"Corn," as the raw ingredient of popcorn, carries warm memories and joy across generations. Yet, people rarely pause to consider where the inedible parts of the corn go after the kernels are harvested. Pop! adopts the imagery of a popcorn cart to centre corn husks as the primary medium of creation, giving voice and presence to silent food remnants.
Every time the popcorn cart lights up, it creates a momentary pause of delight, but also a moment to reflect on the resource waste of crops.
Through biomaterial experimentation and chemical processing, the corn husks achieve a near-transparent state while preserving their parallel vein natural textures, amplifying the aesthetics of the organic material. By transforming the biological pattern of corn husks into a unique visual and artistic expression, Pop! invites a new perspective on the overlooked elements of food crops. Ultimately, it asks: "When the functional utility of an edible substance vanishes, can the remaining spirit of its life endure through the form of aesthetics?"
